2017 LEED Gold, U.S. Green Building Council, for University Hall for its sustainability, savings, energy efficiency, and environmental quality.

2017 New Jersey Green Building Council, Honorable Mention, for University Hall

2015 Green Building Design Award, Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders, for installing charging stations for electric vehicles

2014 Green Building Design Award, Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders for designing the 1,000-space Pioneer Parking Garage with energy-efficient LED lighting technology

2013 Garden State Green “Individual in Education” Award, presented to President Kathleen Waldron for her commitment to sustainability through formal policy and practical implementation through the adoption of the William Paterson University Strategic Plan 2012-22, which includes a pledge to “make the University a fully green institution” within the next ten years

2012 Green Building Design Award, Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders, for the renovation of Science Hall East and the Smart Buildings Project, in recognition of the University's ongoing commitment to sustainability in building and design.

2012 Second Nature Climate Leadership Awards, Finalist, recognizing William Paterson University for innovation and excellence in climate leadership as a signatory of the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment. Among the finalists, the University also received the most votes for producing an innovative video highlighting the institution's sustainability efforts.
