Access to STEM Pathways through Integrated Research and Engagement (ASPIRE) Program William Paterson University (WPUNJ) has designed the Access to STEM Pathways through Integrated Research and Engagement (ASPIRE) Program, which is funded by the U.S. Department of Education Grant for Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSI), to support the enrollment and graduation of students with demonstrated financial need and/or Hispanic students majoring in the following STEM fields: Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Environmental Science, Exercise Physiology, and Mathematics. Students will have access to holistic student support services and resources such as tutoring, Supplemental Instruction (SI), peer mentorship, individual academic coaching, financial assistance and other support services to enhance student persistence, success and retention. In addition, students will have access to research, internships, and faculty mentorship opportunities to promote work-based learning experiences outside of the classroom. The ASPIRE Program will contribute to the national need for well-educated scientists, mathematicians, engineers, and technicians by supporting the enrollment and graduation of Hispanic students and students with demonstrated financial need.
