In order to be considered for admissions to the M.Ed. in Professional Counseling Program, applicants must first meet the requirements for admission to the University (see the William Paterson University Graduate Catalogue for details). Admissions decisions for the Professional Counseling Program are made by a committee of program faculty. For admissions to the Professional Counseling Program you must have: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and official transcripts from all institutions of higher learning attended. A cumulative undergraduate grade point average of not less than 2.75 on a 4.00 scale or a master’s degree from an approved college or university with a graduate grade point average of at least 3.00 on a 4.00 scale. * An essay (click here for prompt) An interview with counseling faculty to include an in-person writing sample Two professional recommendations Applicants who do not meet the grade point average or minimum admissions test requirements may present additional materials or evidence of their academic potential for successful completion of the Professional Counseling Program.
