Enrollment Steps-Freshmen

Congratulations on your acceptance to William Paterson University!  You are one step closer to becoming a member of our campus community.  Please familiarize yourself with the following steps to complete your enrollment for the upcoming semester.

Please note that you will need your WPUNJ Student ID number to use the online forms as your username - click here to look up your ID.  Your PIN/Password is your date of birth in MMDDYY format (for example, March 17, 1999 would be 031799).

  1. Submit your $125.00 Enrollment Deposit.
    To make your enrollment deposit log into http://wpunj.edu/deposits.  Enter your WPUNJ Student Email (MINUS the @student.wpunj.edu part) and Password (University ID that begins with 855).  You can also send a check or money order to the Undergraduate Admissions Office.  Note that this is a non-refundable, non-transferrable fee. If you cannot pay the enrollment deposit because of financial circumstances or due to issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic, please fill out our Enrollment Deposit Waiver Request Form to have the deposit waived and your enrollment confirmed.
  2. Apply for on-campus housing.
    Go to www.wpunj.edu/reslife.  You will be required to submit both a housing contract and $150 housing deposit. Campus housing is guaranteed as long as you submit your contract and deposit by May 1.  Note that this is a non-refundable, non-transferrable deposit.
  3. Get Connected.
    Activate your WP email account and your WP Connect account. Activate these right away to make sure you’re on track.  Remember that WP will send all important emails to your WP student email address.  Start using your WP Connect portal to access your student records as well as other university resources at http://wpconnect.wpunj.edu/cp/home/loginf
  4. Apply for the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).
    Click here to obtain your governmental financial aid FSA ID for FAFSA and put in William Paterson’s code – 002625.  You will need to complete your federal income tax Information in order to complete the FAFSA. It is recommended that families use the “IRS Data Retrieval Option” when completing the income section of the FAFSA online.  Always apply, even if you don’t think you qualify. This will allow opportunity for the other financial aid possibilities. For further information, visit our financial aid website
  5. Take your placement exam.
    After you pay your $125 enrollment fee you will be contacted by the Office of Testing with a date and time for this exam. Your eligibility to enroll in an English/math course is determined by your scores and/or your SAT/ACT scores or completion of college level English or math courses.
  6. Consider joining a Learning Community.
    These are opportunities to take courses with other students who have similar majors, interests and goals in a community-centered environment.
  7. Submit required Immunization documentation by deadline.
    The required form can be accessed at www.wpunj.edu/healthform.
  8. Send college credits.  AP scores must be sent to the University via The College Board.  Official transcripts for dual-credit coursework must be sent from the college which offered the course.  Have these sent as soon as possible.
  9. Be on the lookout for New Student Orientation.
    Once your Enrollment Confirmation is received and you complete your placement exam (if required) you will be invited to sign up for an orientation program. Invitations will be sent beginning in late May. For additional information go to www.wpunj.edu/orientation.   
  10. Submit final high school transcript showing all credits and date of graduation by August 1.
