INFORMATION FOR
AboutLeave Your {Artistic} Mark is a competition celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Student Center that invites students to submit designs for the installation of original public artwork on the 3rd Floor of the Student Center. The competition focuses on the role of students in contributing to the creation of a vibrant campus community in the University Commons by featuring the art and design of dynamic student-designed artwork.
The goal of the competition is to enhance the Student Center 3rd floor with vibrant artwork that inspires current and future students. Artwork will be displayed with a placard including artwork title, artists name, major, and anticipated graduation date.
University Commons Operations welcomes submissions from a broad range of perspectives and art types. Proposals are limited to artwork that can be displayed on sheetrock walls. We welcome submissions that connect the arts with the University Commons focus areas including community building, campus life, celebrating diversity, and pioneer pride. University Commons Operations is particularly interested in original paintings, photographs, digital design, and poetry.
The competition is open to all undergraduate and graduate students currently enrolled in a William Paterson University degree program. Students may apply individually or as members of a team.
This is a commissioned artwork competition. All selected winners will be asked to provide a list of supplies to complete their proposed design, up to $200. If selected, University Commons Operations will purchase up to $200 of supplies to complete the design. Upon commissioning, University Commons Operations will own the artwork and display it in the University Commons.
