November 24, 2020 Dear William Paterson Faculty and Staff, I write to notify you of two administrative changes that are being made to help William Paterson function more effectively. First, Vice President for Human Resources Allison Boucher-Jarvis, who currently reports to Senior Vice President for Administration and Finance Steve Bolyai, will now report directly to me. William Paterson is the place it is because of our people, and I have been closely involved in HR matters from the start of my tenure. These will only grow in importance in the coming months and years as we implement the voluntary separation program and consider other ways to balance faculty and staffing numbers, while also providing new opportunities for workforce diversification and individual career advancement through strategic investments. Vice President Boucher-Jarvis is doing great work on these fronts, and I look forward to working more closely with her to help make William Paterson a better University for our students by making it a better place to work for all our faculty and staff. Also, with the January 1 arrival of Dr. Guillermo “Will” de Veyga as our new Vice President for Strategic Initiatives and University Relations, Institutional Effectiveness will move from its current home in Academic Affairs to Dr. de Veyga’s purview. This move makes sense, given Dr. de Veyga’s expertise and experience, as well as the increasing importance of data collection, analysis, and reporting to all areas of University operations, including the strategic planning and initiatives for which he will be responsible. William Paterson is fortunate to have excellent leadership across the University, and I look forward to welcoming Dr. de Veyga and seeing the benefits of these new changes in how we operate in 2021. Sincerely, Richard J. Helldobler, PhD President
