August 12, 2020 To the William Paterson Community: The Board of Athletic Administrators of the New Jersey Athletic Conference – of which William Paterson is a member – announced today that the start of the conference men's and women's basketball schedule will be delayed until January 20, 2021, thereby reducing the conference schedule from 18 games to 9 games. In addition to this schedule adjustment, William Paterson has made the difficult but prudent decision to postpone all intercollegiate winter sports competition until January 1, 2021. This includes men's and women's basketball and men's and women's swimming and diving. This decision is surely disappointing to everyone in Pioneer Nation. However, it is a necessary step being taken in the best interest of the health and safety of our student-athletes, the athletic department staff, fans, and the broader University community. If we all continue to do our parts to combat the pandemic, I am hopeful that conditions will improve enough to enable us to begin competing in intercollegiate winter sports come January.
