Tell us about yourself:I was born in the Dominican Republic and moved to the United States as a child. I grew up in Hudson County, specifically in Weehawken and Union City. As the oldest of five girls, I am a first-generation college student. I attended William Paterson University, where I majored in psychology. During my time in college, I was very active on campus, which inspired me to pursue a career in higher education. I later earned a master’s degree in higher education from Rowan University. I’m married, have an 8-month-old son, and absolutely love traveling and experiencing new cultures.
Describe your role on campus: I help prepare students for the next phase of their life after William Paterson University. Whether the next step is securing a job or internship, or applying for graduate school. I aim to help students every step of the way.
A defining moment at WP: Soon after I began my role at the Career Center, I received an email from a student I had been coaching through the job search process. She was thrilled to tell me that she had landed the job. That moment confirmed that I was in the right place to help students reach their career goals.
Favorite part about your job: Commencement; I love that I can meet students at Orientation and then see them cross the stage on Commencement Day as a WP graduate. Being in that space fills my heart with pride for the students and their families.
Fun fact: I love karaoke, even though I can not sing.
