Getting around campus just got greener … with a splash of orange.
A new fleet of eco-friendly shuttles is hitting the road at William Paterson, as part of the University’s ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability. And, in true WP spirit, these shuttles make a statement.
The vehicles’ exteriors have been wrapped with fun, WP-spirited graphics that feature mascot Pio “waving” from a window, plenty of Pioneer orange, and our Will. Power. motto. The shuttles are subsequently easy to spot, promote the institution as they travel off-campus roads between campus locations, and will “hopefully bring a smile to riders’ faces”, says Vice President for Finance & Administration/CFO Kirsten Loewrigkeit.
The new shuttles are 100 percent electric with zero carbon emissions, and they boast the latest technology and whisper-quiet rides—excellent for the environment as well as passengers’ safety and comfort.
“By transitioning to an all-electric fleet, we are significantly contributing to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting a cleaner and healthier future,” says Physical Plant Operations Director Jim Shelley. “These vans are an embodiment of our shared commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.”
The new shuttles mark another victory for the University’s Green Team, a committee of faculty and staff who strive to make WP a fully green institution through assessment and refinement of campus operations.
“With real-time GPS tracking via an app and onboard wi-fi, the new fleet also promises to make commuting across campus easier and more efficient for all travelers”, says Associate Vice President for Administration Kevin Garvey. Download the app and view shuttle schedules here.
