New York Korean Performing Arts Center to Appear on March 30 as Part of Asian Cultural Celebration


The New York Korean Performing Arts Center, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving, cultivating, and disseminating traditional Korean culture in North America, will perform on Thursday, March 30 at William Paterson University in Wayne.

The performance, part of the University’s WP Presents! series, begins at 7 p.m. in the Shea Center for Performing Arts on campus. The event is part of the University’s 2023 Asian Cultural Celebration. Tickets are $15 for the general public, and free for William Paterson faculty, staff and students with ID.

The New York Korean Performing Arts Center has played an instrumental role in promoting Korean culture and fostering intercultural dialogue in American society. The group has been invited to perform at various venues, including Lincoln Center, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, National Folk Festival, Hudson Museum, and many more.

Its repertoire includes a variety of styles and settings, from classical court music and dance traditions to theatrical masked dances, popular narrative vocal arts, solo instrumental folk genres, and percussion music. The organization has received annual grants from the Folk Arts Program of the New York State Council on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.
