Mission of IRT

William Paterson's Instruction & Research Technology (IRT) department strives to provide leadership in technology and excellence in production, design, instructional technology and support to faculty, students and the broader university community. We are committed to offering outstanding support in instructional design for online, hybrid, and face-to-face teaching, as well as for the Blackboard Learning Management System, a suite of classroom technologies, broadcast and production equipment, and much more. 

Instruction & Research Technology would like to welcome everyone back to campus and extend a welcome to our new colleagues! We'd like to take this opportunity to remind everyone of a few things as the semester gets started and to introduce these things to our new colleagues. 

Helpdesk Ticket System - - For any and all technology issues and questions, creating a ticket here is the fastest way to get expert support. You can also call the IT Helpdesk at 973-720-4357.

WPconnect - - WPU's Portal - The Faculty & Advisors tab is the place to find your schedule, class lists, Starfish (WPU's early alert system), Degree Works (for degree evaluations), and attendance tracking, among other tools.

The CTT team focuses on strategic course design and pragmatic teaching solutions designed to bolster student engagement and retention. The CTT is located in the Library, inside the IRT Suite (Room 120). Three highly skilled Instructional Designers are available to help you design your courses, use Blackboard effectively, and assist with other instructional technologies to make your courses more engaging for your students.

Make appointments and ask questions by creating a Helpdesk ticket at - You can also call the IT Helpdesk -973-720-4357. Use ticket types Blackboard or Teaching with Technology Consultations on the Helpdesk Request Type menu.

Bb 101
If you need to brush up on your Blackboard skills, then Bb 101 is for you. This documentation covers everything you'll need to teach using Blackboard. 

Online Teaching Toolkit
The Online Teaching Toolkit, which is available to every faculty member from their Blackboard Home Page (look under "My Organizations" for Online Teaching Toolkit), covers the following: teachingtoolkit

Faculty can go through the modules in order, or focus on the areas they are most interested in incorporating into their teaching. 

HyFlex Teaching with the HoverCam Solo 8Plus Please see the ITwiki HoverCam page for information on using the HoverCam (installed in each classroom on campus and in Valley Road 1600) as a Document Viewer and a Webcam/microphone. This piece of equipment is available for all faculty who choose the HyFlex teaching option. Also, watch the HyFlex Teaching Workshop video for more information.
