George F. Kacenga Named Vice President for Enrollment Management at William Paterson University


George F. Kacenga, an enrollment management professional with more than two decades of experience in higher education leadership, has been named vice president for enrollment management at William Paterson University in Wayne.

Kacenga joins William Paterson from the higher education services provider M Square Media (MSM), where he served as assistant vice president in the global marketing office. In this role, he worked with universities on enrollment management, prospect engagement, student recruitment, and new student onboarding. Prior to MSM, he served as executive director of undergraduate admissions and executive director of global engagement at Purdue University Northwest.

“George brings a wide range of experience to William Paterson, including a firm understanding of enrollment trends, both nationally and in the Northeast,” says President Richard J. Helldobler. “We look to his expertise to help the University with its traditional mission of enrolling and educating New Jersey’s high school graduates, while also leveraging the success of our WP Online platform to move us further into promising new markets, such as international students and adult learners.”

Kacenga spent seven years at the University of Colorado Denver as director of international enrollment management. Earlier in his career, he held increasingly senior admission and financial aid roles at several institutions, including the University of Pittsburgh and Saint Vincent College. He is an adjunct instructor at Teachers College, Columbia University and is currently an International Education Leadership Fellow at the University at Albany School of Education.

His career has garnered national and international recognition. He serves as an international education consultant, has been an invited speaker and presenter nationally and internationally on themes related to the analysis of foreign academic credentials, international enrollment management, best practice engaging international recruitment agents, and global partnerships and engagement. His articles can be found in various publications, including International Educator, a publication of NAFSA: Association of International Educators, and the Institute of International Education’s magazine, Networker. He is a co-creator of the international education-focused return on investment resource, ROIie.com.

Kacenga is chair-elect of NAFSA’s International Enrollment Management Knowledge Community, and has served as president of the American International Recruitment Council. He earned a bachelor’s degree in communication and a master of science in curriculum and instruction from Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, and a PhD in social and comparative analysis in education from the University of Pittsburgh.
