    The Financial Aid Office at William Paterson University is committed to the highest standards of professional conduct.  As active institutional members of the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA), the Financial Aid Office staff members prescribe and adhere to NASFAA’s “Statement of Ethical Principles” and “Code of Conduct”.  Staff members are committed to providing our students and parents with unbiased loan and financial information. Free Application for Federal Student Assistance (FAFSA)
WPUNJ Priority Filing Date Deadline is April 1st.
The State of New Jersey deadline is June 1st for all renewal TAG recipients and October 1st for new TAG recipients. WPU Federal School Code is 002625.

WPConnect / Student Services 

WPconnect is William Paterson University's web portal. By logging onto WPconnect, you can access your student e-mail, Blackboard, financial aid, view/pay bills, view academic transcripts, and access other important William Paterson information. Your user ID is usually your last name and first initial and your password is your student id number (beginning with 855). Your login and password information is provided in your welcome packet, sent out after you have been accepted into a degree program. For non-degree students this information is provided in your registration e-mail.

Family Education Right to Privacy Act

WPUNJ participates in the Family Education Right to Privacy Act (FERPA) for our student records policy. Please be aware that students would complete the FERPA Form to give permission to the University to speak with anyone other than the student. Click here for more information.

 

Stafford Loan

Step 1

  • Stafford Loan Entrance Counseling
  • Entrance Counseling helps you understand your rights and responsibilities as student loan borrower and provides the terms and conditions associated with your loan(s).

Step 2

  • Stafford Loan Promissory Note.
  • The Stafford Loan Promissory Note is used to make one or more loans for one or more academic years (up to 10 years).
  • If you are a student borrower under the Stafford Loan Program attending a school that is authorized and chooses to make multiple loans under the same loan for more than one academic year, you will only sign one note. It will be used for all of your loans over multiple academic years. For example, if you enroll in college as a freshman and borrow under the Stafford Loan Program for all years of study, you may be able to borrow this note for all the years.   • Student must be enrolled at least half-time.

 

 

 

Parent Plus Loan

 

2010- 2011 Parent PLUS Application

 The Direct PLUS Loan Request is a 4–step web form that will be used instead of a paper process.  The parent must sign in to the StudentLoans.gov web site with his or her Federal Personal Identification Number (PIN).  A parent who does not have a PIN can request one via the Federal Student Aid Pin web site (www.pin.ed.gov).

 

2010 -2011 Graduate PLUS Application

 The  Graduate PLUS Loan Request is a 4–step web form that will be used instead of a paper process.  The student must sign in to the StudentLoans.gov web site with his or her Federal Student Aid Personal Identification Number (PIN).  A borrower who does not have a PIN can request one via the Federal Student Aid Pin web site (www.pin.ed.gov).

Student must be enrolled at least half-time.

 

 

 

 

 

Perkins Loans

All William Paterson University Perkins Loan Borrowers must complete the following:

  • Perkins Loan Entrance Counseling
    If you are a first time Perkins Loan borrower at WPUNJ, please complete this step as well as completing the Perkins Master Promissory Note below.
  • Perkins Loan Promissory Note
    Print, complete, and submit the Perkins Master Promissory Note to the Financial Aid Office. Should you have any questions contact Ms. Susan Rienstra in the Financial Aid Office at rienstras@wpunj.edu or 973-720-2925. Faxed copies cannot be accepted, original signatures are required.

Alternative Student Loans

Alternative student loans can be used if you have received the maximum in all other Programs. Less than half-time matriculated students and non-matriculated students in Academic Progress failure and/or while you await financial aid funding can apply for this type of loan. All students who apply for an alternative loan after February 14, 2010 must complete the Private Education Loan Application Self Certification. This form must be submitted to your lender. To view your cost of attendance and estimated financial award please log on to your WPConnet account.

Stafford Loan Exit Counseling

Prior to graduating or leaving school, Stafford Loan borrower's recipients must complete exit counseling. The Stafford Loan Exit Counseling will explain your rights and responsibilities as a Stafford Loan borrower. Exit counseling session will take about 30-40 minutes to complete.
